Paul Verity Opticians is proud to have been associated with Diabetic Screening in Bradford for over ten years, first operating a fundus camera for the local slit lamp scheme and now as a full NHS contract holder in support of the current national scheme.
The screening consists of recording personal medical history, a brief check of visual acuity on a test chart and then the instillation of eye drops to dilate the pupils in preparation for Fundus Photography. After allowing time for the drops to work, four photographs, two per eye, at different angles, are taken by our screener Josey Foster. At this point the patient can leave but later the photographs are analyzed and graded to a national scale which then forms the basis of a report for the General Practitioner. If there are any concerns arising from the analysis the patient can be referred into the Hospital Eye Service for further investigation and care.
