Birth to 10, The Early Development Years

It is very important to have your child’s eyes examined regularly from an early age, because any problems can be picked up and corrected whilst the visual system is developing. We recommend testing in our practices from around 4 years old when a child can contribute to the examination, but any concerns before this age should be raised with the Health Visitor or G.P.

There are many aspects of vision that affect a child’s ability to respond to a teacher’s instruction. Uncorrected vision that results in blurred vision or eyestrain may lead to poor performance in the classroom, on the playing field or even in building good social relationships outside school.

It is also important that children have protection from the harmful effects of Ultra Violet light which could lead to eye health problems later in life.
